No Strings Attached (2011) rating: 7/10

Is this movie hitting on the trend of male and female role reversal? The girl is so bitten by life that she doesn't want a real relationship. She prefers friends with benefits or f**kbuddies to something real. The guy can't avoid falling in love with her.

I must say that I haven't ever really liked Ashton Kutcher, but he plays adequately here the role of guy hooked by girl and falling pretty hard despite his attempts to play along with the 'rules' set out by the girl, played by Natalie Portman (who I usually despise, but is believable here).

I found the idea that hiding from love is equivalent to hiding from life clichéd. Of course I would. It might also have some truth. The movie also seems to point out that it might also be difficult for guys to separate sex from love. A point which gay males would be eager to contradict. I think it largely depends on who you're having sex with (is he or she a keeper?).

Things come in pairs? This movie could be seen as a different, somewhat better version of: Love and Other Drugs or a slightly inferior version of 500 days of Summer.
